Message from Nurse Mrs.O’Gorman

The school health policy established by the Millburn Township Public Schools Board of Education, following New Jersey state statutes, requires all grade 6 students to have a meningococcal vaccine, tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine  before the start of school.  Students who turn  eleven after the first day of school MUST have the Tdap and meningococcal vaccines within fourteen days of their birthday.  If the meningococcal vaccine was given before their tenth birthday, the physician MUST provide documentation that the child will receive the meningococcal booster within five years.   Once your child receives the immunizations, close to their 11-year-old birthday, ask your physician to supply documentation that the above-referenced immunizations have been administered to your child and submit a copy of that documentation to the school nurse patricia.ogorman@millburn.org

Do not send your child to school sick. A student must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school and 24 hours without GI symptoms before returning to school.

Please provide your correct contact information in PowerSchool. Your emergency contacts in PowerSchool must be individuals who are available to come pick up your child if we cannot get hold of you. Ideally, the emergency contact is within 20 minutes of the school.

Notify me of any illnesses or injuries, especially those that require a student to be absent, receive medication, or need assistance.
